Exam Prep
Today in human geo class we reviewed for our exam one last time. This is the last time I'm going to write a blog for the 2018 year. Next Semester I'm changing to Mr. Feindrick. In the beginning of class we turned in our essays. I'm proud of my essay and its about 950 words. We talked about the stuff we learned in the beginning of the year. I'm glad we talked about it because I completely forgot everything. I'm not a good test taker at all so I'll probably not do well on the exam. Best of luck to me on the exam and best of luck to Mr. Schick on grading them, if you have to I'm not really sure. Have a good Christmas break because I know I will. See you next year!

More Writing on Essays
Today in human geo class Mr. Schick came back. We were in Mr. Schick's room and we continued to write our essays. I finished writing my essay with about 950 words. I'm very proud of myself that I finished and I don't have to do it at home. I had a problem in the beginning of class where my laptop was at 8 percent and I didn't have a laptop charger. I asked everyone in the class if they had a laptop charger but no one did. I then went to Mrs. Gauthier's room to see if she had one. She didn't. I then decided to go to the bathroom and check out the cafeteria to see who was in off mod. I found some of my friends and asked them if they had a laptop charger. One of them did and I'm using it right now. I'm very happy I got a laptop charger because if I didn't I wouldn't have finished my essay and I would've had to do it for homework. In conclusion, it's been a productive class day.

Productive Work on Essay
Today in human geography class we all wrote our essays for the exam. I'm glad we got some class time to do the essays because I would've procrastinated so much if I had to do it all at home. I chose option 1 for my essay. That option is what I know most about. When I read the other two questions I started freaking out because I had no idea what they meant. If that's how the exam is gonna be I feel like I'm in big trouble. Speaking of exams, I had a biology test today as well and didn't know anything on it. I'm probably going to fail my biology exam too. Mrs. Gauthier was our substitute teacher and she let us get our phones and earbuds to listen to music. I was completely tuning everyone out and listened to my music as I wrote my essay. I finished 4 paragraphs already. I'm kinda stuck with what the question is asking me though. I'm trying to fit in the answer into some of the 4 paragraphs and now they might seem a bit long. I also have no clue what to put in my concluding statement but I guess I'll figure it out sometime sooner or later.

Test Day
Today in human geo class we took a test. The test was on immigration of course. To be honest I don't really like talking about the topic immigration. It kind of bores me. It's just something I'm personally not interested in. The first part of the test was a word bank with definitions. I think I did pretty good on that part the definitions came easy to my mind. The second part was multiple choice questions. I don't think I did so well on this part and I probably got a couple questions wrong. If anything is going to bring my grade down it would be some of the questions on multiple choice. Some of the questions included were like, which country has the most immigrated people living in it. Another question would be which statement about immigration doesn't go with the rest. The last example could be what kind of prosecutions would have to be done to you if you wanted to seek asylum in the United States. The test is based off of immigration questions like that. Overall I think I did okay on the test, I will probably get an 85%.

Illegal Immigration- Yes or No?
Today in human geography class, we talked more about immigration, surprised? Immigrants come into the United States looking for sanctuary, job opportunities, family reunification, or just a better life. The view from Northern Mexico is we should show more empathy towards the illegal immigrants. The view from Southern Mexico agrees with the United States. We both don't think we should show as much empathy for the illegals because Southern Mexico has the same problem. Guatemalans are crossing the border into Southern Mexico in search for a better life style. The United States is split in half by believing if we should show empathy or not. It really doesn't seem like anyone is stuck in the middle. You either want illegal immigrants or you don't. That's the U.S. problem. In class we also talked about sanctuary cities. Sanctuary cities are cities where illegal immigrants can be safe and not have ICE capture them as easily.

Notes on Immigration and Emigration
Today in human geo class we reviewed our notes from the powerpoint some key points are:
-Family Reunification
-Family Reunification
-about 3/4 of immigrants
-Skilled Workers
-about 1/4 of immigrants
-sending countries alleged preference for skilled workers contributes to the brain drain- a term for the highly skilled and intelligent citizens migrating away from sending countries
-DiversityFew immigrants admitted because their sending country sent many migrants
-Anchor babies- illegal immigrants have babies in the U.S., making the children U.S. citizens
Some of the things we learned is that countries need ways to control immigration and emigration. They have policies for those exact reasons. The passing of the Quota Act took place in 1921 and the National Origins Act in 1924. Those acts ended unrestricted immigration in the U.S. Some of the restrictions to even qualify to get looked at are if you are beat or have been down graded because you're a woman.

Packet and Review
Today in human geography class we didn't do much at all. We were all given packets in the beginning of class and we were told to read them and highlight the main points that we thought were important. After we high lighted the important parts we then took the key points from the packet and wrote them down in our notes. The packet was about immigration once again, and government policies. It taught me the different social groups and what they would call undocumented immigrants. Some groups called them illegal aliens some called them illegal immigrants and lastly, some called them undocumented immigrants. They have many different names but they all come down to being someone who crossed the border illegally.

Migration to the United States
Today in Human Geo class we took notes continued listening to the podcast and talked about what we took notes in. We talked about metering, which is the containment of the number of people that come into the country. Trump wants, for example, immigrants to wait in Mexico if they're applying to migrate into the United States. They come into America and then leave wait 6 months for their court hearing and then come back for their American citizenship. Once you're in America you can get a job and do anything that a normal American citizen can do. When you do enter the country you need to go to specific offices and if you go to the wrong one then you might get a time penalty.

Human Geo Notes and Discussion
In human geography class today, we continued to have our discussion on migration. We talked more about our political views. There was a list of 5 things; race, nationality, religion, political view, social group. The last one that was most recently added is domestic violence. These different thing are categories that you could be persecuted for and moved to the U.S. The problem is when you want to move to the U.S. for being prosecuted you have to wait about 6 months and stay in your own country while you wait. But if the living conditions are so bad that you could die next month, most immigrants will try to come in illegally. They are being impatient and just crossing the borders illegally. I know that they aren't posing no threat to the U.S. but it's still illegal. I honestly don't know my opinion on that topic I'm kinda stuck in the middle.
