Migration, Notes, Western Expansion

In Human Geo. class today, we talked about mobility and migration again. The first part of class was almost like a basic review of what we took notes on the day before. I asked Mr. Schick if we could get up and move around the room so the class didn't feel so boring. He then came up with the idea that we would read from a packet and if he called on you to read you would stand up and talk. We learned the difference between emigration and immigration and that 3% of the world's population has migrated at some point. Also in class we learned about the Western Expansion. Robert and Demetri stood up in the back of the room and explained it to us. They drew a picture of the United States and showed that most of the country was taken my Native Americans and the United States wanted it. We talked about Lewis and Clarke and the expedition for the Pacific Ocean. Lastly we talked about how gold in the United States was found in California and many Chinese immigrated to the United States in search for gold and to get rich. Many Americans from the East Coast also moved West in search fro gold and wealth.
